Zenless Zone Zero 3.0 Lands June 17 – Welcome to Roscaelifer, New Agents, and a Free Pyrois
Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.0's 'A Sleepwalker’s Confession' introduces Wind agent Velina and Fire Stun Norma, shaking up anomaly combat.
I can still remember the goosebumps when HoYoverse lifted the curtain on Version 3.0 during the latest livestream. The update, titled A Sleepwalker’s Confession, is set to go live on June 17, and I haven’t been this excited about a seasonal refresh since the game first launched. On the same day, the Steam version will finally become available, opening the door for an even wider community to dive into the chaos—and the beauty—of New Eridu’s most mysterious restricted zone.

The story picks up with Ether energy going haywire inside the protagonist’s body once again. To get answers, the Mayor sends the Proxies straight into Roscaelifer, a breathtaking floating city locked away inside a forbidden sector. And here’s where things get personal: almost immediately, I met Velina, the Administrative Director of the External Strategy Department. She’s not just a bureaucrat—she’s our first Wind attribute Agent, and her arrival fundamentally changes how I approach anomaly-driven combat.
Before I dive into the gameplay shakeups, let me paint the setting. Roscaelifer is buzzing with tension. The ESD’s Bangboo chip program is facing a massive backlash after reports of self-destructing Bangboo units started flooding the networks. Unusual Hollow activity inside the city’s Energy Hub keeps everyone on edge, and whispers about the return of first-generation Void Hunter Remielle Dan have turned into full-blown public obsession. The atmosphere walks a tightrope between wonder and dread, and I love every second of it.

Velina fills an Anomaly role and introduces Windswept, a brand-new status effect that’s already reshaping team building. What makes Windswept so juicy is its interaction with other Attribute Anomalies: trigger it alongside, say, Shock or Burn, and you’ll set off a Vortex effect that rips through nearby enemies. I tested this synergy on the preview server, and the chain reactions made me feel like a true tactician instead of just mashing buttons. Pair her with a consistent anomaly applier, and the battlefield turns into a chain of elemental fireworks.
Alongside her arrives Norma, a Fire Stun Agent who also happens to be the ESD’s chief technician. Her kit revolves around extra Chain Attack opportunities, which means she’ll slot perfectly into burst-heavy comps that want to string together as many consecutive Chain Attacks as possible. If you’re a veteran who still adores Ye Shunguang or Sunna, good news: both are returning alongside their exclusive W-Engines, so you can finally grab those missing pieces or boost your favorite builds.

Exploring Roscaelifer isn’t just about fighting, though. Roarin’ Brekkies hands out daily random rewards, while the Spotlight Theater puts Bangboo performers in the spotlight—literally. I stumbled upon a hidden sky bus route simply by messing around near a back alley, and that feeling of organic discovery reminded me why I fell in love with Zenless Zone Zero’s world design in the first place.
Now, let’s talk about the tools that make me feel like an actual investigator. The Universal Terminal system is a game-changer. I can access surveillance cameras, conduct first-person reconnaissance, and operate drones alongside Eous. During one side mission, I used a drone to scout a heavily guarded platform, tagged patrol routes, and then slipped through a ventilation shaft without raising a single alarm. It’s that kind of immersive, puzzle-like freedom that keeps the open zones feeling alive.

Then there’s the Scamall Hollow. Aerial traversal gets a jet fuel injection thanks to the power of Pyrois, and dimensional anomalies warp the environment enough to make every route feel like a fresh riddle. One moment I was gliding over collapsing platforms, the next I was deciphering a mirrored puzzle that flipped gravity. It’s fast, disorienting, and absolutely thrilling.
To track your adventures, a new collection feature named Interboo catalogs every significant discovery across Roscaelifer and rewards you with Polychromes and materials as you hit milestones. Completionists, eat your hearts out.

Permanent gameplay additions are arriving, too. Bangbang! The Genius and the Miracle Chip introduces management-focused content where I command Collaborator squads to repair the Central Computing Hub and run research projects. It’s a chilled-out change of pace that reminds me of those base-building side modes in other HoYoverse titles, and the resource returns are genuinely worthwhile. On the opposite end of the spectrum, Annihilation Simulacrum delivers a brutal endgame challenge: boss encounters without elemental advantages or weaknesses. Raw skill matters here—no cheesing with type matchups.
Quality-of-life improvements deserve a standing ovation. Drive Disc management finally gets a Smart Discard function that auto-tags trash pieces based on your filters. Tuning menus now prioritize active build plans, so I don’t have to scroll through a hundred artifacts to find the one I’m leveling. And accessories? Glasses, earrings, headwear—all interchangeable across outfits. Fashion-forward Proxies, rejoice. PC players with compatible hardware will also get ray-traced global illumination, DLSS Super Resolution, and Frame Generation support, making Roscaelifer’s neon glow pop like never before.

Here’s the part that made me grin ear to ear: Pyrois, the Phaethon faction Agent, will join everyone’s roster for free after you progress through the Season 3 storyline. A themed protagonist outfit also gets handed out at no cost. HoYoverse confirmed that future updates will distribute all of Pyrois’ Mindscapes and the exclusive W-Engine free as well, which sets a fantastic precedent for accessibility.
And the celebration doesn’t stop there. You can snag 1,600 Polychromes total: 600 when Version 3.0 drops, and an extra 1,000 on July 4 to mark Zenless Zone Zero’s second anniversary. Perfect timing to fund those Velina or Norma pulls.

I’ll see you in Roscaelifer on June 17—possibly hanging off a sky bus.
